As more buildings were completed we were able to spend more and more time with Steve on Melville Island. The students of the college would board from Monday to Friday and then return to their communities for the weekend. This meant that some weeks we were able to fly over weather permitting and stay from Friday to Monday morning as a family in a group home. The kids couldn’t get enough of the rain and the mud and Tom lost his shoes every time we went over. The mud was so thick and deep that there was no hope for shoe recovery. The kids enjoyed getting to know other staff kids, and I really enjoyed trying to get the mud out of their clothes!
